🤖 I just turned 8 complex legal PDFs into an AI-powered Q&A system – and here’s why every business needs this technology.
Most companies have thousands of documents collecting digital dust. Contracts, policies, reports, manuals… valuable knowledge locked away where nobody can find it.
I built a solution to this problem using the Steward Malta hospital case as a real-world test.
The Challenge:
8 dense legal documents (court rulings, government reports, Maltese law) totalling hundreds of pages. How do you make this information instantly accessible to everyday citizens?
The Solution: RAG + Vector Embeddings
Instead of a basic keyword search (which fails spectacularly), I implemented:
📊 Vector Embeddings – Converts text into “meaning coordinates” in mathematical space. The AI understands that “contract voided” and “agreement cancelled” mean the same thing.
🎯 RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) – Searches 627+ document chunks using semantic similarity, then GPT-4 synthesises a clear answer with source references.
The Result:
Ask “What was the court’s decision?” and get an accurate, cited answer in seconds – even if those exact words aren’t in the documents.
